Southampton is the largest city in Hampshire and a ferry port on the Solent. Combined with Portsmouth
it is often jointly called Solent City. It is just 20 miles from Salisbury and 27 minutes by train. The Community Rail Partnership of Three Rivers covers the line from Salisbury to Southampton Central, Romsey, Eastleigh, and links directly to Southampton Airport. Connections to Southampton Airport can be made from Salisbury or Southampton Central using the Three Rivers service.
