Chippenham grew up on the London to Bath coaching road – now the A4. Westinghouse built up a large complex next to the station to supply railway signalling equipment for this country and around the world.
The station, a grade II listed building, has recently been modernised with lifts and a new footbridge installed. Work is continuing to improve access from the north side and the bus/rail interchange at the front of the station.
