Our thanks for the fantastic community support for our proposals for a Hub/Café at Melksham Station. Melksham's Area Board, Town Council, Melksham Without Council and Bowerhill Villager have in total committed £17,000 matched funding supporting TransWilts GWR CCIF grant application.

TransWilts have made a £55,000 application to the 2018 GWR CCIF grant awards for refurbishing the existing reception hut at Melksham Station into a Community Hub building with café, toilet and community office. There is a need to demonstrate local community support with matched funding. We expect to get an indication of whether our application is successful by the end of 2018. The funding will enable the work to be started and completed in 2019, subject to completion of appropriate lease arrangements with Wiltshire Council.

The business case for the remainder of the vacant site being converted to a car park is under consideration by GWR.

The proposals have been evolved as part of a master plan for the Melksham Station site to improve passenger and cycle access with the provision of a bus stop for future services to the station.
