Work has started to improve the reliability of the lift to Platform 2 at Bath Spa station.

In recent years the lift, which takes passengers to the platform usually used by trains to London and Westbury, has struggled to cope with the demands placed on it.  This has resulted in a two person limit using it at any one time which has led to congestion at busy times.

Until the middle of March it will be out of use to allow the mechanism to be stripped out completely and repaired to improve its reliability and raise the capacity.

During the closure there will be extra staff on duty to provide assistance with luggage on the stairs or via other accessible routes within the station.  Where necessary taxis will be provided to Bristol Temple Meads, Chippenham or Westbury.

Customers with reduced mobility are being asked to contact GWR Passenger Assist before travelling if possible so the most appropriate arrangements can be made.
