Network Rail says at the halfway point in the engineering work in the Westbury area, the project is going well despite the weather.
Since Christmas Eve teams of contractors have been working to replace a number of points in the station area. Meanwhile other staff are renovating a viaduct near Warminster. A spokesman says they are on target and have no concerns that the work will not be finished in time for trains to resume on 24th January. GWR is also taking the opportunity to do some maintenance work around the station.

In the meantime no trains can call at Westbury. TransWilts services are largely replaced by buses with the exception of two trains a day – one from Trowbridge to Swindon in the morning and one in the reverse direction in the evening, which also continues to Weymouth but does not call at Westbury.

As well as the rail replacement buses laid on by GWR, rail tickets are also being accepted on a number of local buses. Full details are available at https://www.gwr.com/travel-information/travel-updates/planned-engineering/wessex
