As it prepares to celebrate its 10th year, the Bedwyn Footpaths Group is planning a pre-Christmas walk around the village and along the Kennet & Avon Towpath.

Walkers will meet near the Londis shop a short distance from Bedwyn Railway Station at 10am on Sunday 22nd December.   They will then head past St Mary’s Church, along the tow path and then up Hatchet Lane.  It will be a chance to explore the lane now much of the hedgerows have been tidied up by the group recently.    The walk will take just over an hour and end with a drink and a mince pie.

The group regularly walk the local rights of way, to promote them, to encourage walking and to help to keep the paths clear and accessible for all to enjoy.   They assist, and liaise with, Wiltshire Council’s Countryside Access Officers and the Ramblers Association.    As well as holding monthly guided walks and footpaths clearance working parties, they publish self-guided walk leaflets which are available for free from the information kiosk in Bedwyn, or their website.

If you are interested in joining the walk or would like to find out more about the group please see their website – https://www.bedwynfootpathsgroup.org.uk/
